Google maps vs. navigation: choose your pick

Well, travelling to unknown places was never that easy until an amazing device named the ‘GPS navigation system’, was introduced. Have you faced times when your GPS system suddenly stopped responding? Has it ever barred you from reaching a place on time? Well, GPS is certainly unpredictable. Google has arrived with its navigation system called the Google maps, which is a mobile application and will never let you down.

Versatility of the Google maps
Google maps are a mobile application, designed and developed by Google which is compatible with all IOS and Android operated systems.  To access the navigation system, it is necessary to have an internet connection (Wi-Fi, 4G or 3G). Being a technologically advanced system, Google maps instructs and guides the driver vocally on all Android devices with proper stated instructions including the directions to follow (left or right). After you’ve started the application for reaching a specific destination, you will notice that when you follow a direction and turn right or left it is also being displayed on the device’s screen.

The application comes with a bag full of useful features like car dock, multiple views, search, offline guidance, transit, mode walking etc. it will also guide you in emergency situations, like when you suddenly plan onto visiting a museum, hotel, restaurant, café etc. all you need to do is enter the name of your destination and as soon as the device recognizes it will automatically show you the correct path. Google maps are also competent enough to recognize name of things e.g. coffee and it will soon suggest the best and nearest café.

When you’re caught in traffic try using your voice instead of typing as it will save you a lot of time. Here’s another interesting feature, you’ll receive views from other android devices of a specific location, so you will know about the amount of traffic on the road prior to reaching the location. The Google Street view shows you the route from first person sight, and while using the Satellite views you’ll receive feed from the ‘bird’s eye view’.

It’s always better to have a car dock in your vehicle as it makes the GPS device easy to use. The navigation system has 400 worldwide city routes pre-installed in it, and you may use the system even in the offline mode, special features are available for it. Google keeps updating the features and maps of the app, and thus ensures every user to have a safe and short journey.

Conventional GPS navigation devices
There are some of the GPS devices found today that seems to be better from the Google maps in terms of functionality and features. In order to use these traditional devices the user doesn’t requires a data connection, as it has a built in map. Some of the GPS devices also have a feature called the ‘Lane Assist’ which helps users avoid confusion when they are confused or unfamiliar with some turns and lanes. Some of these devices come with a countdown called ETA, with all types of voices in it.

So what is your choice: traditional navigation system, or Google maps?
